03The building

The building on the lot

Building on Vees Drive took 11 months and $25 million. The project added 45,000 square feet for entertainment and gave Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited, the company running Cascades, its first MATCH rooftop patio. On the floor are more than 400 slot machines, along with 5 gaming tables, 4 electronic table games and 1 poker table.

From Sunday to Thursday the floor runs 10 a.m. to midnight. On Friday and Saturday it goes on until 2 a.m. the following morning. Table games follow a shorter schedule that starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday night; Monday and Tuesday have no posted table hours. Holiday hours are not published, so a call to 250-487-1280 confirms them. The inside page covers the floor in more detail.

08Online in B.C.

The provincial rule for online gambling

In British Columbia, gambling is legal only when run by the provincial government, with BCLC managing casinos and online play for it. The only site where online gambling is legal in the province is PlayNow.com, operated by BCLC and open to players 19 and older.

The Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO), which regulates gambling here, says every other online site accepting B.C. players operates illegally in the province. The paid links on this page lead to one such private site. It is neither licensed nor regulated in B.C., and Game Break, PlayNow limits and IGCO complaints do not reach it. The help page lists the support lines.
